‘she has often seen a cat without a grin but never a grin without a cat’ — Lewis Carroll, Alice In Wonderland
Pretend with a smile
than snarl
at some incorrigible, halfwit
that can’t be redeemed to cerebral grace.
Even if blood boils in rage,
cells holler for counterstrokes,
create tender moments with diplomacy.
Be a Cheshire Cat.

“Incorrigible halfwit who can’t be redeemed to cerebral grace”. I shall save that for instances when it seems applicable! Great write.
Really a wonderful write!!!
incorrigible halfwit
that can’t be redeemed to cerebral grace…. oh I’m dying to use that on someone… brilliant!!!
Hahaha! How many moments like this I wanted to have while teaching–and did erupt a little to my sorrow. But I cannot imagine you doing this! Even the language in the poem is a little shocking–but then, that’s the point isn’t it? And I think the Cheshire Cat (and even Jesus) had their moments.
I love this to death! A brilliant write!

I like the idea of being diplomatic … it would save us from so much trouble 🙂 Beautifully penned.
Sadly a smile often indicates approval, I would rather show stoic indifference to leave them guessing.
That incorrigible halfwit is on many minds these days – what he wanted, I suppose. That is such a fantastic line, Sumana………
Your words make me prize the smile behind the mask(s).
OMG….this is so timely…powerful….this is the only way to behave these days…. great!
“snarl at some incorrigible, halfwit (lol)
that can’t be redeemed to cerebral grace”
Love it Powerful
Fantastic poem
create tender moments with diplomacy.
Be a Cheshire Cat.
They seemed to be full of life and lively. An appropriate description in many instances!

Brilliant poem. A very good reminder. Now my antennae will be up, watching for the niggling feeling of resentment so that I can nip ‘the halfwit’ in the bud before it blooms.Smiles.
Ah, Sumana, definitely something to strive for…’tender moments with diplomacy.’
Sadly, the line about the incorrigible halfwit reminds me of the current U.S. president.
Lovely! I really enjoyed reading this!
