Flood is: always,
going overboard.
Not to my liking.
Let me be calm,
be at peace with me.
I pray for placid, deep water
always half inch
below the edge.

That’s a good prayer
‘I pray for placid, deep water always half inch below the edge.’ .. Amen! This is beautifully poignant, Sumana.
I pray for placid, deep water always half inch below the edge. Excellent
I join your prayer, knowing quite well my own overflow of emotions. Hard to be calm and accepting when an actual flood causes our emotional overflow. This poem is larger than its few words. It resonates in my heart.
Deep, but without the flood.
Beautiful prayer and that half inch is incredibly important,
Elizabeth

Ah, may it always be so. Let it never overflow its banks!
Bravo! Always a half inch below the edge….let’s hope so!
I feel the same way Sumana! Lovely writing as always.
I pray for placid water no deeper than my chin. My mother taught me I’d drown in anything deeper, and I learned my lesson well! Great poem.
My preference is for placid deep water too, my friend.
Yes,” a half inch below the edge!”
A prayer and prudence ….layered…beautiful!!
An excellent prayer…I think I need to add it to my daily prayers. thank you.
Placid deep water where a half an inch makes the difference….precarious !
