Diwali is over
children are back to school
men in Monday blues
bangles jingle
while the wife sautés
the onions in mustard oil

Oh my goodness… that has put me directly in the mood for some lip smacking bengali food.. can smell the onions frying in mustard oil!! 🙂
Sumana, this is such a rich image, with the sounds of the bangles and the onions in the mustard oil –
I can smell them! There is also wistfulness in the lines:
‘children are back to school
men in Monday blues’
which we can all appreciate as the feeling of anticlimax after a celebration..
How I know the feeling when the kids leave for school. Such relief for me. 🙂 A very wonderful family set up. 🙂
Love the cozy imagery and the emotions it elicits,
Elizabeth
