The mother remembers
how the moon alone
stayed awake with her
on an unearthly night
when all left-
mother and moon
were related-
connected-
by existence alone

Oh, yes, that would be an unforgettable experience. One does crave a companion when everyone deserts one, and the moon is constant in that regard. Beautiful poem!
Often a sole companion to many, I wonder if the moon feels it as a crowd? I welcome the solitude of she and I. Beautiful.
Beautiful Sumana…heartbreaking…

Happy you dropped by my blog today
Much💟love
This connection is a beautiful one and you did it justice with well woven words😊
I can see that mother, alone under the moon……”connected by existence alone.” Beautiful, Sumana.
Oh yes, how beautiful you capture the moon as a reliable and comforting companion in your poem. Touching!
The moon alone has stayed awake with me many a difficult night. I love this.
Oh this is so heart wrenchingly beautiful Sumana!
Oh how marvellous. Well done.
I have stayed awake under the watchful eye of the moon, or was it I who watched the moon. I can feel the loneliness.
I can definitely imagine the moon as a lone companion on a late night.
I never feel foolish talking to the Moon when she there for me listening with that bright smile on her face.
Beautiful, Sumana. Sometimes the company of the moon is all you need.
And so, in that long night, there was the calming influence of Her light.
Solace in the continuing benevolent presence of the moon…sad but lovely poem.
So, beautiful the nourishing soul of mother and the endless night of moon, toiling for their children:)
Yes, a beloved companion.
Love this!👍💙
Yes, there is both beauty and sadness in your words, but also a deep sense of comfort as well,

When I watch the moon it seems solitary, but someone else is probably watching too.
Marvelous write, Sumana!
Beautiful poem, Sumana. Often the moon is our best (and only companion).
