Lady Liberty

Her words liberty-dance

in my cells

tearing away that grief bar-

my cells trill,

and sing

in praise of her-

She was a ‘black ocean,

leaping and wide’

while her breakers crashed into froths,

into a daybreak did her hopes ‘spring high’-

She whispered to my cells

to write

She lit grit in my heart

to write

She wove joy into my soul

to write-

to me

She Is Lady Liberty

A Phenomenal Woman

Is She

  1. An unique take on this week’s writing prompt. One that I would never thought of, which speaks to my lack of perspective.

  2. A wonderful dedication to the phenomenal woman, Sumana! I love the lines:
    ‘She was a ‘black ocean,
    leaping and wide’
while her breakers crashed into froths,
into a daybreak did her hopes ‘spring high’.

Thank You :)
