Her words liberty-dance
in my cells
tearing away that grief bar-
my cells trill,
and sing
in praise of her-
She was a ‘black ocean,
leaping and wide’
while her breakers crashed into froths,
into a daybreak did her hopes ‘spring high’-
She whispered to my cells
to write
She lit grit in my heart
to write
She wove joy into my soul
to write-
to me
She Is Lady Liberty
A Phenomenal Woman
Is She

This is beautiful!!
Oh, yes! That she did, and still does for many. She danced and sang, too. Wonderful poem!
A very nice dedication on fourth of july.
An inspiring write…. love it!
She was and is Lady Liberty for sure. She had such wisdom, such depth.
An unique take on this week’s writing prompt. One that I would never thought of, which speaks to my lack of perspective.
What a great example she set for so many…Yes, we can!

A wonderful dedication to the phenomenal woman, Sumana! I love the lines:
‘She was a ‘black ocean,
leaping and wide’
while her breakers crashed into froths,
into a daybreak did her hopes ‘spring high’.
I can hear all that trilling and singing. Yes she was truly an inspiration.Keep writing.
Surprising comparisons. Luv it. Thanks for dropping by my blog Sumana
