I dread the fierce claws
Of your words-
I retreat-
I have no wish
to slay a dragon-
I don’t mind
embracing defeat-
the full moon smiles
at the crashing
tidal waves
and goes beyond

oh so zen!!! perfect!
If words hurt you are weak indeed, as the best response is always to ignore them. Best not to learn the hard way!
O, to be the full moon! Such distance (and presence) would help me balance!
I am the same way, Sumana. I retreat into silence, no need to engage in battle…..I love the ending of your poem with the crashing of the waves…….
Most times its better to keep the peace, Wow, how gorgeous are your images
Have a good Wednesday
much love…
P.S. thanks for dropping by my blog today
Victory isn’t measured by the number of blows that you land (physically, mentally or verbally), but by the ability to dodge them. As your poem, Sumana, so elegantly shows us.
fierce claws of your words👌👌👌
Sometimes accepting defeat is a wise decision
Beautifully expressed. Let’s go beyond..
I never read anything I dread, No point. Words are lethal weapons and can maim.I can’t imagine anyone writing anything awful to you. You are not the type of person who elicits that kind of a response.Slaying dragons takes energy. Energy wasted when you could be crashing about in the tidal waves in the moonlight.
I need to slap this person for you. That should balance them out!
Lovely write, Sumana. Sharp words are like claws that tear at your innards.
You had me hooked with the first two lines!
Defeat or the display of greater strength? In either case, beautifully written. Thank you.
Great 🙂
