I love the life you gave the flame here Sumana! I don’t believe she gave in either; flames always fight the wind as long as they can. A lovely response to the image indeed!
….and now only a wisp marks her memory. Such a beautifully sad story!
This is beautiful, Sumana! Lovely to see you posting.
I believe she was steady … not giving in. Well done!!
Ah yes! after the dance of life, it’s like it never happened. Nice analogy, Sumana. Happy Sunday
much love…
I think she stood steady until the end!
Awesome poem. It catches the possible flare before the flame goes out.
Love it! xoxo
Yes, we no longer see the fire, just the empty loss.
There is a definite mystery in this image. I like the idea she didn’t give up without a fight.
What a charming poem, Sanaa!
But she was there…
I still smell the smoke
and the drips on the candle
are the lessons of her life.
“No one knows if she was steady
Or wavering
In the face of the insolent, hungry wind-”
very well said, enjoyed your poem very much
I enjoyed this personification of the flame. Giving a story and a voice to this unknown woman.
