The ghouls
that dwell in me
in the guise of fitness freak-
come out before dawn-
when the weary moon is sleepy
stars yawn;
their red eyes whirl
in a dervish dance-
and do not rest
till they could pull me out of bed
and send my poor soul
out of the house.
I hear their chuckle
as my heavy trudge
squeezes dew-life out of the grass;
my steps are lighter
and then faster.
I hear their sighs…
perhaps of relief.

I am glad these ghouls do not exist in me – I am far to lazy!

A unique perspective on ghouls, I like it. Everyone has some compulsion, good job that most of them are benign. 🙂
I know those ghouls… maybe they are the ones that make me take my bike to work.
What a nice ghoul, mine though has left me. I am now too lazy
much love…
This is the first I’ve heard of the fitness freak ghouls. Scary, but probably worth it.
Don’t mind to have me some … but then I’ll need the time.
I’ve had the same ghouls. I can tell you that when they really take over, it’s not fun.
