This year begins with the ceremony
of darkness-
I can’t sleep. I come out
only to find you rising-
am I able to touch the end of the world then
is it that close-
for I see your eyes leaning on us-
a volcano erupts in your eye-
in one eye-
turning the sky red
while the other one is all ice-
so it is your night
and we are all lemmings?
whatever you are
be my poem
and life-
Posted for Sunday Muse #90
I agree Sumana, may it be life. This is heart stirring and absolutely beautiful! Thank you for joining us at the Muse this week. 🌷
Wow. This is an image of something wonderful and terrible rising. This is a poem that inspires awe.
I like how you made note of the color of the eyes. My first thought was fire and water and then I bounced to sky. Thank you for writing this poem.
Lovely. Yes. May it be life in this new year.
The duality of it all… may it be life in the end.
Gorgeous! So we look at mystery–despite danger. Find it beautiful, and follow it anywhere. Yikes!
I love the idea of a volcano in one eye and ice in the other……thinking perhaps that all living things share both the fire and the ice of life!
Fire in the one eye and, on the other side of the world, melting ice in the other. This is a wonderful poem, Sumana!
Volcano and ice…it certainly fits a poet. Love your take on the image!
“Whatever you are”….that’s the part I love best.
The unpredictability that is life… “be my poem”. Nice!
